I have been in software technology in various forms since 1984. From programming C++/Java to being the founding CEO of two VC-backed startups, I have been involved in bringing a wide variety of technology products to market through direct development, or acquisition of key seed technologies.
I am most happy when users are delighted to use products I've birthed. I admire Apple a lot. I'm jealous of Steve Jobs' job.
I balance this with the requirement that startup companies must find an identifiable market that can be reached quickly and efficiently, and which will pay money for newly invented products. Without this, there can be no success in the technology business.
My goal is to create new technology products that millions of people know, use, and love.
I think open source is going to change the software industry as we know it. In five years, the most successful software companies will be those who have mastered the art of how to make money on open source solutions.
