Jeremy Andrews’s Experience

  • Educational Programmer / Analyst

    A.T. Still University

    (Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)

    May 2007Present (2 years 7 months)

This particular position at A.T. Still University is a combination of web design, web development, administrative and technical support. Daily duties consist of updating, creating, and implementing web technologies. Assisting Professors, Instructors, and Students with their Learning Management Systems (LMS). Helping ITS Team implement new systems and Help Desk support when needed.

Side Note: The most rewarding part of this job is that the projects that I work on help equip students with the knowledge, compassion, and experience needed to address a person's body, mind, and spirit. The faculty and staff at ATSU are highly educated and very professional; it's a joy working with people you like. Working for an educational institution, the retirement benefits and paid vacation is a huge plus as well!

  • Owner

    JAweb.com

    (Online Media industry)

    1996Present (13 years )

Helping clients get on the web, or helping them create a better online presence. Designing, developing, and maintaining web sites from conception to completion. Consulting on the backend including web hosting, shopping cart solutions, content management solutions, and search engine optimization. Designing user interfaces and brainstorming ideas on how people will use the sites, and researching and developing ways to deliver site content.

Side Note: Successfully completing and delivering on every project and providing customer support and updates when needed.

  • Senior Web Designer

    SMS.ac

(Public Company; 201-500 employees; Information Technology and Services industry)

    January 2007April 2007 (4 months)

I worked in the Product department developing new content for SMS.ac. Basically we would brainstorm ideas for content, research competition and solutions, and then I would work with a Technical Writer to develop mock-ups to present to the department heads for review. After review, I would build out graphics and HTML to pass along to engineers. After the engineers develop I would go back and fine tune or assist them in building the product. Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Flash, Flex, Visio, MS Office used often.

Side Note: This was a very unique place to work (for me). The office was located right in the heart of Gas Lamp, in sunny San Diego, with an open loft space. The highlight of working there was when they rented 4-5 tour buses and took the whole office (120-140 employees) to Mission Bay, split us into teams, and kind of had an “Mtv Road Rules” type of competition. My team won of course!

  • Web Design and Development

    Card Player Media

(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Marketing and Advertising industry)

    August 2003August 2006 (3 years 1 month)

Developed successful print and online campaigns for advertisers. Created print pieces for various ads sizes in the bi-weekly magazine, including the actual magazine covers. Worked directly with 3rd party design and marketing departments. Designing mock-ups and creative for site designs and upgrades. I was responsible for all site content, when the site went down or if pages were incorrect I was on call to make sure the site was fixed. Successfully helped the website increase traffic each year I worked there (2003 - 2006). Hand coded HTML, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and CSS. Photoshop, ImageReady, Flash, Dreamweaver, and InDesign used on a daily basis.

Side Note: Highlights for this job were living and working in Las Vegas and attending poker tournaments like the World Series of Poker and the Bellagio Five Diamond Classic. With my media pass, having the opportunity to meet and watch professional players right at their table while the tournament was going on.

  • Graphic Designer / Web Developer

    Nevada Film and Talent

(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Internet industry)

    20022003 (1 year )

Designing mock-ups and creative for site designs and upgrades. Hand-coded html, Perl, and JavaScript. Position required intensive Photoshop work which consisted of retouching and editing numerous images on a daily basis. Designed various user interfaces, portals, video player interfaces.

  • Senior Web Developer

    Emerald City Inc.

    (Computer Games industry)

    20002002 (2 years )

I was in charge of designing user interfaces, image editing, navigation design, taking content from Internet Service Providers from around the world and making cobranded content. This was my first job working with dynamic content specifically VBscript, ASP, and MS SQL server.

Side Note: I worked with ex-Nintendo and ex-Microsoft programmers and received on the job training working with them learning about application development and scripting. This was my first "start-up" company and as other start-up's at that time, we had a great product and talented people, but we ran out of seed money and were unable to get investors. It was a great postion and was a let down when we closed shop.

  • Senior Web Developer

    Exotics

    (Entertainment industry)

    19962000 (4 years )

Designing mock-ups and creative for site designs and upgrades. Worked with marketing department to design and develop advertising campaigns for customers, designing banner ads and flash animation. Hand-coded html, Perl, and JavaScript. Position required intensive Photoshop work which consisted of retouching and editing numerous images on a daily basis. I was responsible for hiring and training a small design team. I was responsible for all site content, when the site went down or if pages were incorrect I was on call to make sure the site was fixed.

Side Note: I moved to Los Angeles for this job and lived and worked in Beverly Hills. The actual office was in the "Larry" Flynt building and sometimes just the elevator ride up to my office had pretty interesting people. I networked with many other people in my field and was fun experiencing the graphic design and web design industry while in Los Angeles in the late 90s.
