I've been involved in web development and marketing for over a decade.
In my current career I am working on two fronts. First as a government employee that is trying very hard to help my organization grasp what is possible by using the Internet to achieve their recruitment and communication goals.
Second, as a leading edge social media consultant and podcast producer for companies that are in the space and want my help taking advantage of Web 2.0.
I have been working in social media for nearly 4 years. I helped start the Portland Podcasting Association which morphed into the Portland Social Media Club. The goal was to explore new social media technologies/strategies, dissect them and teach the pros and cons to the members. As a result I understand that a company can't just have a Facebook page and fake a community. They have to take part in the digital community and provide real value to the members. People will actually subscribe to advertising if you do it correctly online.
