Jason has specialized in application security, penetration testing, and reverse engineering for over 11 years. He released his first exploit to rootshell.com in 1997. Presently, Jason performs application security consulting services for a variety of organizations. Jason is also a Senior Instructor at InfoSec Institute where he teaches Reverse Engineering and Advanced Ethical Hacking bootcamps.
In the past, he helped develop an advanced intrusion prevention framework funded by ARDA that used decoy techniques and sophisticated pattern discovery algorithms to dynamically block new attacks. Jason has also worked at Symantec Professional Services, formerly @stake, where he lead and performed a wide range of reverse engineering & application security engagements for Fortune 50 clients.
Professionally, he has conducted over 200 application security assessments that include well known products such as AOL Instant Messenger, Engadget.com, Windows Media Player DRM, and Cognos 8. Most recently, Jason held the position of Chief Architect & Director of Engineering at Endeavor Security leading development of one of the first products to automatically capture malware and decode shellcode off-the-wire.
