at Item-9 Consulting
Greater Chicago Area
I've had a history of coming into aging and unfriendly web situations, but I've always made efforts to learn quickly and significantly improve these sites' look and usefulness. In 2006, I was hired by United Way of Metro Chicago to manage their web content and one year later, I had earned my own Interactive Media department. My earlier content management responsibilities were supplanted with leading the Communications department in the charge to revamp the organization’s entire web strategy. It was also there where I discovered WordPress (a very popular open-source content management system), which I still use and love today.
After United Way, I was hired by PAWS Chicago and its parent company, the Metro Bank Group, to lead both organizations’ web departments. This position included managing the team that redeveloped and maintained 15 websites and implemented email campaigns and several very successful social media initiatives.
Since I left PAWS this past February, I have turned my focus to running my own web development company, Item-9 Consulting. Taking on numerous freelance projects has allowed me to become more adept some of my historically weaker points, including web designing and project management. For examples of my work, please take a look at my new site and portfolio: http://item-9.com, as well as the two projects I am currently working on: http://item-9.com/drury/ and http://lucyslivinski.com.
