Staff Software Architect (Network/Security) at Intel
Portland, Oregon Area
I joined Intel right after finishing my Masters at University of Maryland College Park. Worked in various research & technical leadership positions in Intel's research division. Working in the labs I gained expertise in a large number of areas.
I then moved into a product group at Intel focussed on Intel's mobile platforms. Currently I own definition of requirements and architecture of some products mainly in the area of security and virtualization on the Centrino Pro/vPro Platform.
The role is also very entrepreneurial in the sense that it involves proposing and getting approval/heads for new products/features on our platforms, influencing and providing requirements to teams across Intel to get the products on the roadmap and past the finish line. I also work with business and marketing folks to identify and engage ecosystem partners, develop the ROI numbers etc. to make a business case.
Some of the things I have done in my years at Intel are:
* Filed 25+ patents in the area of computer security and wireless networks
* Published 12+ papers in numerous refereed Journals and top conference proceedings.
* Lead architect for the first deployment of British petroleum sensor networks project, which was selected as Infoworld Top 100 project in 2004 given to "innovative new projects that highlight the resourcefulness of the IT community.” and economist called it “the most ambitious experiment yet in this nascent field”
* Co-author of Zigbee network proposal which got most votes and also co-inventor on the Zigbee network patent
* Also, involved in other standards like 802.11s and bluetooth especially the security aspects.
* Handled overall security architecture specification and threat analysis for some high level security related products/platform features on Intel Centino/vpro platforms
