I was entrusted with nearly $2B in Defense contracts while in the Air Force as a Contracting Officer. The projects ranged in complexity from logistics and combat support in wartime, to classified works at Abu Ghraib and Tuwaitha Iraq, to leading supplier/contract management on the F-22 Raptor and F-35 JSF.
I was awarded the Bronze Star in Iraq. I led nearly $360MM in combat support and security contracts that required extensive logistical, financial and legal management, under the most dire of circumstances. As an active-duty Air Force Captain, my customers included Amb. Bremmer, his staff, the J4 (logistics commander) of the Joint Military Task Force, and the S4 (Army logistics) for numerous complex contracts supporting and funded by multiple agencies, under the highest ops-tempo and sense of collective urgency.
Deciding to leave the military, I joined the Global Sourcing team at NBC Universal and was asked to create the category of energy and utility sourcing at the newly merged company.
Both endeavors were incredibly rewarding, but in Feb 2005 I decided it was time for the ultimate challenge; to boot-strap and launch a "social shopping" start-up.
As co-founder and COO, I have really played the dual-hat role of Chief of Corporate Strategy, while having to get into the tactical "weeds" and take responsibility for team execution. Responsible in the start-up phase for strategy and implementation related to product and market-fit. My partner, DT Sutter and I also hand-picked and recruited "early adapters" for site alpha-testing. With Deano, I led market research and demographic studies related to targeting/deploying platform verticals. We carefully recruited and negotiated corporate board of advisors--including four CEO's and EVP's of leading Internet, advertising, entertainment and media companies. Directly oversaw or handled, corporate finance, venture cap-modeling, recruitment, marketing, sales, and strategic alliances.

I worked 30 hours per week as an undergrad, after deciding not to play varsity football after 1996. This workload, where I was eventually promoted to asst. general manager, was in addition to the workload of a full-time student, ROTC cadet and President of a 70-man fraternity
