When it comes to academics, I have always had a strong work ethic. In high school, I discovered that I had a knack for running and subsequently earned a full scholarship to the college of my choice. I chose North Carolina State University (NCSU) due to its location as well as the fact that their Cross Country team was ranked among the top 10 in the nation.
My goal was (always) to complete my three academic degrees (BA, MA, PhD) in succession. However, I realized, after having gone straight into my Masters program from my Bachelors, that I was beginning to feel a little "burned out" with school. After earning my M.A., I took a break from college to try my hand at a totally random career just to mix things up a bit (hence the police stint). While it had its many redeeming qualities, I quickly realized that the police department taught me a lot about myself, mostly that I did NOT want to do it as a career. Somewhere in the interim, I applied and was accepted into UNC Chapel Hill's graduate program for Speech Pathology. Not quite ready to go back for my PhD just yet, I decided to get back on track career-wise and began looking for jobs pertaining to writing and editing.
I signed on with David Williams of Unlimited Web Solutions to become a web copywriter/content writer and have really enjoyed all that he (as well as the industry) has taught me. I wanted a career where I could utilize my writing and editing skills as well as my knowledge of how language plays a role in human social relationships. My future goal still includes earning my PhD; but currently, I am focused on becoming more Internet-savvy, improving my professional writing skills as well as improving the visibility of our clients' web sites through organic, quality blogging, content writing and linking.
