My background is in engineering. Drexel University recruited me to enter the SuperNOVA program, a new program where students complete their BS and PhD in six to seven years. I completed my undergraduate in Materials Science and Engineering and performed research in nanocomposite polymers.
During my undergraduate studies, I helped found the Drexel Smart House organization. I served as the organization president and helped build an organization of over 100 students. We convinced the University to allow us to use a 4500 square foot former fraternity to create a living laboratory for testing new designs and technologies for improving peoples lives.
This project caused me to change the direction of my studies and career to focus on sustainable design and technology. This resulted in the founding of two companies. The first being Summalux Technologies, a company developing advanced LED lighting technologies, and Konnect.Me, a B2B e-commerce network for emerging industries.
(Internet industry)
July 2008 — Present (1 year 1 month)
Konnect.Me is a website focused on building industry specific collaborative networks.
(Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing industry)
June 2008 — Present (1 year 2 months)
Summalux Technologies is developing new LED lighting fixtures that create a better lighting indoor lighting environment.
(Government Administration industry)
April 2007 — September 2007 (6 months)
I worked at the U.S. Army Research Labs in Aberdeen, MD to mechanically characterize nanodiamond polymer composites using various nanoindentation techniques.
(Nanotechnology industry)
April 2006 — September 2006 (6 months)
I worked on a project for NanoBlox at Drexel University. I used their nanodiamonds to enhance the properties of various polymers.
