Jim Hartley is an accomplished association executive with more than 25 years of experience and a record of success.
July 1, 2007, he became the Executive Director of the Ohio Society of Association Executives and leads this 650 member society for the state's professional and trade association community.
For the previous 14 years, he had been Vice President of Membership & Technology for The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the nation's 4th largest state CPA society. During that time, membership in The Ohio Society of CPAs has increased 70% from 14,000 to more than 24,000 members -- the largest increase among all state CPA societies in the USA.
The Ohio Society of CPAs was identified as one of nine “remarkable organizations” in the nation in a recent book published by American Society of the Association Executives (ASAE) and Center for Association Leadership – 7 Measures of Success: What Remarkable Associations Do That Others Don’t. The organization is cited for exceptional member service and successful strategies for adapting to change.
Jim is a member of ASAE and the Association Societies Alliance (ASA). He is currently a member of the ASA executive committee and serves as treasurer for the organization. In 1999, he earned ASAE's Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation.

The Alliance (Association Societies Alliance) is a voluntary membership organization comprised of local, regional, multi-state, independent, autonomous society of association executives.
