Addiction Health Care Consultant and Contractor
Cincinnati Area
I am a retired health care professional with over 25 years experience in emergency room nursing, nurse anesthesia (CRNA), and pain management consulting.
Currently, I am the Ohio State association of Nurse Anesthetists Peer Assistance Advisor and a moderator for the private web community, Anesthetists In Recovery (AIR). I am also founder and CEO of my consulting company, Addiction Prevention Education Consulting Services (APECS), in Cincinnati, Ohio. I provide educational speaking and seminars for anesthesia providers, groups, departments, and training programs in Ohio and nationwide. I also speak to private corporations, church groups and schools (high school and elementary). Addiction and chemical abuse (this includes alcohol...the single most abused drug) is a leading cause of health problems including, but not limited to auto accidents, falls, domestic violence, liver disease, gastrointestinal disease, cardiac disease, pancreatitis, certain cancers, assault and murder. It s the leading health crisis in this country, and yet it is poorly understood, poorly treated - if at all, and health care insurance refuses to pay for much of the treatment, even though it is a chronic, progressive disease.
My main goal is to provide education to health care professionals as well as the public about the disease of addiction. Prevention is the best way to manage this disease, but our culture refuses to accept this as a DISEASE, despite the scientific evidence! Until attitudes change, this disease will continue to ruin lives, families, businesses and our society. Education is the key to sparking change in attitude.
Motivational and educational seminars, consultation with families of suspected addicts to assist in intervention, consulting with departments of anesthesia, training programs, and hospitals to develop policies and procedures to deal with employees who are afflicted with the disease of addiction.

I provide motivational and educational speaking and seminars on the disease of addiction. Primarily dealing with the addicted anesthesia provider, I also provide services to other industries, corporations, churches, and primary and secondary educational organizations. The disease of addiction ruins lives, families, and careers. Much of this can be avoided with prevention strategies, but only if the information is disseminated. I am also available to assist in the development of policies and procedures for dealing with the employee who may have a chemical abuse (including alcohol) problem or perhaps be an addict. Addiction is a disease that can be successfully treated. Contact me for questions about my services or thie disease of addiction.
