I've been a professional actor most of the last 28 years, with some time off for good behaviour. Born in London, England, I've been in the US on and off for about 11 years; in Austin for the last five.
Acting is really my first love: people fascinate me, and getting under the skin of someone else is perhaps the nearest thing to inhabiting another universe. It's a nice way to lose yourself, too. I'm a compulsive thinker and reader as well: psychology is of endless fascination to me. I believe our minds are the greatest toy boxes we have. I can play with mine all day long.
And so I write: a lot. Much of it lurks in the dark, hidden recesses of a number of internet servers right now. But a screenplay or two are on the way. Apart from feeling like a much stronger and more rounded actor than ever, I have enough life experiences to make some good films, and write some good work.
The past eleven years or so have been spent "going back to the basics". In essence, I've been rediscovering primary artistic motivation, by reexamining my intuitive and most primitive artistic expression in areas as diverse as standard cognitive and group therapy, "the externalization process", art therapy, dance, expressive art, experimental film, sculpture and writing, and a hell of a lot of reading and self examination. Julia Cameron's book "The Artist's Way" has been an enormous influence on me, too.
I've also been traveling something of the spiritual path, healing from my own emotional traumas, and experiencing my own character building odyssey. Apart from acting I've worked in fields as diverse as handyman, hypnotherapist, chimney sweep, singer, photographer, video editor, website tech, telemarketer, wedding videographer, documentary film maker, writer, emcee, house painter, gardener and artist's model in recent years. All these things have enriched me as a person and an artist.
An autodidact: luckily, I've not disappeared entirely up my own ar..

Science , Science , 1991 — 1993
My main interest was physics at the time, as I have a fascination with the properties of matter. I found it fascinating that something could be a wave and a particle at the same time. I did rather well as I'd studied something of the basics of theoretical physics but just didn't have the mathematical skills to really pursue it beyond a rudimentary understanding, unless I studied math for three years. So I dropped out of the course after gaining a good grounding in the fundamentals of science and scientific thought.
Drama 1978 — 1980
General education 1969 — 1973
I played the fool, and threw away a fairly good education.
Heigh ho!
