As a senior, I am beginning to find the areas I would like to pursue a career in. I am extremely interested in marketing and enjoy the challenges it provides which demand creative solutions, as well as the more analytical aspect of it in terms of determining positioning, researching consumer behavior/perception, and marketing strategy. I love marketing because it serves as a great equalizer, allowing you to take a slightly inferior product and create the perception of a superior product. This means if you do have a superior product, marketing is critical to convey this to the consumers. Fascinating, huh?
I am a very teachable individual and can learn quickly. This skill was required as an intern at Wachovia, where I needed to learn about their Securities Lending and Trust businesses in my first two weeks.
Finally, I thoroughly enjoy working with others, both in the form of working as a team and interacting with clients. My experiences have taught me that, once you are able to be an effective team member/leader, the benefits of teamwork are tremendous.

Sports Media Challenge is a Sports Consulting company that focuses on social media. Buzz Manager mines Traditional Media sources and Fan Generated Media sources. As an intern, I update Buzz Manager for specific accounts, analyze this information, and then consolidate it into actionable items for the client, which they can use to make necessary changes.
I've learned a lot about social media and the power that it possesses in building a brand and providing a low cost form of marketing.

I help with pre-game promotional activities, both within the marketing department and for corporate sponsors at football and basketball games. During the game, I help execute promotions at halftime, timeouts, and in between innings. Other responsibilities have included PA announcing for NCAA Women's Soccer games, manning the souvenir stand, and even dressed up as a mascot.

I started this job in order to get a better idea of what goes into the production of a sporting event for television, so I could use this from a marketing perspective. I was a cameraman for ACC Select for fall sports, filming for the production which was streamed live on the Internet.

As the Publicity Co-Chair, my main responsibilities included creating the logo to go along with our tagline, planning a creative and effective marketing strategy, ordering all promotional materials, and creating an error free program to be handed out at the event.
This experience was a wonderful one in which I was able to build my project management skills and learn to work very well as a team, by working with the other committees, as well as individually. Keeping to deadlines and time management were also very important skills in everything we did. I've also had to do a lot of problem solving, like when we weren't meeting our registration goals, I created a "Registration Day" targeted at getting seniors to register. This has required me to really know our target market (students) so that we can convince them why they should come to Symposium.

I was a summer intern at Wachovia in the Wealth and Capital Management division of Internal Audit. I had to learn about many lines of business (securities lending and trusts) in a short period of time and assisted staff auditors in completing testwork. My teamwork skills vastly improved through working in groups here, as well as through projects at UNC.
I worked on a project in which a group of interns and I create a three year business strategy for Wachovia to get through the sub-prime crisis. We concentrated on cross-selling, our website and new banking technologies, revamping marketing of the campus card program, and introducing a new mortgage product. I have taken a special interest in the marketing aspect of each of these areas.
Also, while i was at Wachovia, I was assigned a side project to create a new audit plan, based on a four year cycle, instead of a three year cycle as previously used. This new plan should help save 25,000 budgeted hours each year.
