President and Founder at Iridescent
Greater Los Angeles Area
I have a physics and aerospace engineering background and started a science education non-profit organization, Iridescent in 2006.
Our mission is to inspire girls and inner-city children to strive to become engineers and scientists.
Iridescent has been operating for 2.5 years and we have some impressive numbers in terms of impact. It has been an amazing experience to get an idea off the ground and win the public's support one person at a time.
I am ambitious, energetic, focused and cannot be beaten down. My long term goal is to have a powerful movement of engineers inspiring children in LA, NY and Silicon Valley. I devote every waking minute to making this goal happen.
Working in the non-profit world is not easy. Trying to inspire people to set high goals and achieve them is not easy. I do the following to help navigate these waters:
1. I constantly read, learn from others, implement best practices from the field and evaluate.
2. I am a firm believer in trying to find a better way to do things.
3. I also believe that intelligent, driven people are an organization's best asset. Get the best people on your team (for however long) and you will have a better chance of success.
4. I climb mountains and run long.
5. I work all the time and I love it!
