My name is Gene Quinn, and I am a Patent Attorney, Law Professor and the Founder of IPWatchdog.com. I am a partner in White & Quinn, P.C. which is a patent law firm responsible for administering legal work provided through a unique system called The Invent & Patent System™. This system creates high quality patent applications for substantially less than other patent attorneys or law firms. In a nutshell, in order to achieve this efficiency our process requires the inventor to submit answers to a questionnaire, with the submitted information being used to create a first draft of the application. I invented this system as the result of my teaching activities over the years at various law schools throughout the country. While teaching patent drafting courses I needed to devise a method for teaching law school students how to competently draft patent applications. As a result, I came up with a system that could easily teach law students and new attorneys how to draft applications. Based on this early success, the system was adapted for use with inventors. Versions of the system have been in use since 2004, and have proved to be tremendously successful in both ensuring quality and reducing cost substantially.
I also teach for Concord Law School, and I also teach a patent bar review course for the Practising Law Institute (PLI). Beginning in April 2007 I also became the editor and chief contributor to the PLI Patent Practice Center blog. In my spare time I write a monthly column for Patent World, which is an industry magazine with worldwide distribution, and I am on the Patent World editorial board.
I am admitted to practice law in the State of New Hampshire (USA), I am a patent attorney, registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) - Reg. No. 44,294 - and I am also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
