Also surveyed commercial and institutional buildings, health care facilities and residential buildings for the last 25+ years. Principal and Industrial Hygienist of ET&T located in San Diego, California. Peter has extensively worked with the disaster restoration industry in mold investigation, mold and sewage remediation, and indoor air quality surveys.

From 2009 to 2011, served on the Board of Directors for the IESO (Indoor Environmental Standards Organization). Currently, Peter volunteers as a committee member at IESO’s Consensus Body.

Peter is teaching a number of mold investigation and remediation certification classes since 1995. The Indoor Environmental Standards Organization (IESO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the creation of consensus-based standards that provide solutions for healthy indoor environments. IESO is an accredited standards development organization by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). IESO was founded in 2002 and maintains a headquarters in Rockville, MD.

Peter is a member of the IESO Consensus Board, which responsible for vetting and approving promolgated standards. Peter is also currently serving as a committee member on the PHEAF committee, which is developing a standard for the use of laser particle counter to elvuate HEPA filtered devices.

    Field investigations are often confronted with situations of evaluating whether or not fungal amplification is present inside a wall cavity. This study was conducted to assess if culturable air sampling of wall cavities is a viable tool to assist in making the determination. The analysis showed an increase in total colony counts and a significant shift from Cladosporium species to Aspergillus and Penicillium species in wall cavities which had sustained water intrusions.

    This study presents data related to GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) cellular phone radiation resulting from antenna sites and towers inside residential areas in Germany. A statistical evaluation of over 200 representative high frequency field measurements is presented for the years 2001 and 2002. The results show that, especially for future cellular UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) applications, there are several options to minimize additional HF radiation exposures for the population and reduce the potential risk for exposures.

    The use of DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication) cordless phones has been a major health and environmental concern in Europe and especially in Germany for years. The biological concern arose from studies on HF (high frequency) sources such as GSM cellular phones and towers. Digital cordless phones are also available in the USA – marketed as 2.4 GHz digital technology. A digital cordless phone was placed in a representative private home in California and HF measurements were conducted at different locations inside, using frequency selective spectrum analysis to obtain the cordless phone power densities. The results showed that the radiation patterns and levels emitted by the small cordless phone base station are almost identical to the DECT technology – also digitally pulsed and permanent microwave radiation. The power density values presented for each room inside the home can be compared to average DECT cordless phone radiation exposures found in German homes. The maximum power density was found to be over 500,000 µW/m2 at a normally encountered distance (about 1 - 2 feet) if the base station is placed on an office desk or bedside table. The radiation peak values in the same room are higher than those encountered in proximity to cellular base stations located near residential buildings.
