Dr. Rob Burton’s Summary

I am a trainied sociologist. I took my degree at Plymouth University and my PhD at University of Exeter. I have taught Sociology and Social Science including research methods at both Plymouth and Exeter universities. I currently still teach for the OU. I have been a researcher for many years and have published widely. I have been the UK's Rapporteur for the EU on a project looking at the Freedom of the Skies

I was the Research Fellow on a project at the Institue for Employment Studies where we surveyed 40,000 prospective students (62 per cent response rate on a paper questionnaire)

I have been the Market Research Manager at the University of Plymouth - probably one of the first dedicated market researchers in any UK university

I was a founder member of the HEI Market Researcher Forum

I am skilled at both quantitative and qualitative research - in particular focus groups and online surveys.
