At Babson College (rated best in the world for entrepreneurial education) I learned about all aspects of business including leadership, entrepreneurship, marketing, sales, innovation management, and accounting. • R&D Director

    DeliveredSafe Ltd

    (Logistics and Supply Chain industry)

    September 2004December 2008 (4 years 4 months)

Founder and contributor of IP to startup providing a new concept in logistics infrastructure. Failed to gain the required funding, and ultimately other opportinuties (Saltire Fellowship for me) and worsening economic conditions lead the directors to abandon the attempt and wind up the company.

  • Chief Technical Officer

    CHIL

(Privately Held; Information Technology and Services industry)

    June 2005November 2008 (3 years 6 months)

CHIL offer a range of applications to telecommunications providers based on a proprietary platform technology. I led the teams that delivered the first production version of the platform (from Ukraine) and the first major application to a customer (Orange UK). In doing so I built a professionalised development organisation and a solid platform for growth.

As part of the management team of a small company, I contributed to all aspects of the business. This included building the team (both technical and sales staff), managing our outsourcing strategy (reducing a 15 strong team in Ukraine as relative costs changed over time) and developing the market offering.

Initially I worked on product development in industries including medical devices, product authentication, imaging and payment systems. I rapidly moved into a more commercially focussed role including prospecting, pre-sales, proposal writing and client briefing. My major achievements included leading a strategic consulting project for Vodafone Global Products and Services and providing turnkey product development for spin-out Flying Null.

    STMicroelectronics

    (Public Company; STM; Semiconductors industry)

    19992000 (1 year )

Name changed from VLSI Vision Ltd after a buy-out. See below

  • Senior Engineer

    VLSI Vision Ltd

    (Computer Hardware industry)

    19962000 (4 years )

Working in the software group I professionalised development to the point where software, originally seen as a problem area, became a key strength. Crucial to this success was working across the organisation (with the chip, electronics and firmware teams) to ensure smooth and optimised integration.
