Ian Bentley’s Summary

Ian was brought up with a strong social conscience in South Africa during the Apartheid era and dedicated most of his first 40 years to uplifting the poor, the weak and the disenfranchised. After the birth of the Rainbow Nation in 1994 he focused on resolving disputes, developing consensus, restoring relations between communities and the police, promoting integrated development planning and developing entrepreneurial potential.
He eventually came to the realization that good deeds don’t translate into financial independence, and in 2004 took the plunge and went into business with two former colleagues, Len Khalane and Melikaya Ntshingwa. The company, Safrika Development Services focuses on the prevention of crime, a specialized and important niche market as South Africa will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The company was set up without working capital and developed on the basis of the collective contacts, knowledge and expertise of the partners. The business has gone from strength to strength and has recently secured several contracts beyond the Eastern Cape. A sister company, Safrika Training Services, was recently launched to capitalize on the opportunities that have subsequently presented.
On a personal level, Ian has come to realize that his true calling in life is as an entrepreneur and visionary. He has the ability to recognize opportunities and to take his ideas and develop them into strategies and plans of potentially massive profitability. Ian aims to facilitate the uplifting of disadvantaged fellow-countrymen, and to profit in the process. To this end he is developing other business interests including hospitality and tourism, internet marketing, new networking models, alternative health and wellness techniques and traditional African herbal medicine.
Ian is a maverick. He does most things differently because he is by nature a lateral thinker, constantly hatching new ideas, developing original concepts and finding better ways of doing things.

I have recently negotiated world-wide distribution rights to a product that will, its it’s own way, revolutionize the way we dispose of human waste. The technology was developed 10+ years ago here in South Africa, and has everything going for it – it’s environmentally friendly, the end product is pure, clean water, its noise and odour free, simple to use, versatile, cost effective, has only two moving parts, uses very little power and requires minimal maintenance. The potential for international roll-out, particularly to the third world, is enormous. I am currently looking for people to help me make Lilliput tip internationally.
