IAL is a consultancy, research and training company in the library and information sector. Chris’s work focuses on electronic information resources, and their effective use in libraries and information centres. In recent years, e-books have been the subject of much of the company’s research work, and it is currently a partner in the JISC National e-Book Observatory being run by UCL. Chris and colleague, Ray Lonsdale, jointly run a regular series of training courses, modstly focussing on the Management of e-Book Collections in Libraries, and Collection Development Policies for e-Resources. The latter is also the subject of a year-long project working with 30 librarians in sub-Saharan Africa, funded by the Carnegie Foundation.
