Howard Wright’s Summary

I am a patent and trademark attorney with one of the leading UK firms, Withers & Rogers LLP. The firm specialises in obtaining patent protection for inventions, and trademark protection for brands. I am a member of the firm's Electronics, Computing and Physics practice group, although we also have very strong Advanced Engineering, Life Sciences and Trademark groups. I am a partner based in our London office which is located in Hays Galleria near London Bridge station, overlooking The Thames, the City of London and Tower Bridge. We also have offices in Leamington Spa, Bristol and Birmingham.

My degree is in Physics with Solid State Electronics from Exeter University. I am fascinated by new technology, and so working as a patent attorney is a real joy.

After university, I joined Withers & Rogers. That was 14 years ago, and I have been here ever since. I trained and qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in the UK, as a European Patent Attorney, and then as a UK Trade Mark Attorney over the course of about 6 years. I represent all kinds of client both before the UK Patent Office and the European Patent Office (EPO). I regularly attend hearings to represent clients at the EPO. I also have experience of due diligence exercises involving patents & trademarks. I wrote a Patent Agent's Report for inclusion in the Listing Particulars of a company which was about to join the London Stock Exchange a few years ago.
