A multidisciplinarian in film and video, I have worked variously as a writer, director, colorist, effects artist, and editor since 1994. As a postproduction professional, my current focus is on performing color correction on a wide variety of commercial and independent projects, from spots to shorts to narrative and documentary features and anything in-between.
As a director, I've been developing independent projects in a variety of genres. My feature Four Weeks, Four Hours was accepted to the 2006 San Fernando Valley, Portland Longbaugh, Toronto ReelHeART, Hollywood FAIF, Colorado Breckenridge, and Salento Italy International Film Festivals. In August of 2008, it screens in New York as part of the NewFilmmaker's Series at the Anthology Film Archives theater.
As a technical writer specializing in video postproduction, I've been an ongoing contributor to Edit Well, the interactive newsletter for Final Cut Studio. Published tltles by Peachpit Press include "Encyclopedia of Color Correction," and "Advanced Color Correction and Effects in Final Cut Pro." I also wrote the Color User Manual (version 1), the Shake User Manual (versions 3.5 and 4), and the Final Cut Pro User Manual (versions 2, 3, and 4) for Apple, Inc.
As a director, I focus both on performance and creative shot composition. My post background lets me maximize resources, using digital technology to streamline production and extend what's being shot, and avoid relying on fix-it-in-post solutions that are too expensive.
As a colorist, I believe that my responsibility is to serve both the creative and technical needs of the program. My varied skills enable me to grade, clean up, and the occasional effect for any project.
