Tom Sparks’s Summary

For the last 22 years I have been studying, writing, and developing clearer biblical understandings surrounding the Church; it's location, it's organic nature, it's leadership, and it's function.

We have discovered that Jesus never intended for it to be a place, but a people, he never desired hierarchical leadership but non hierarchical servant leadership. It must be fully participatory by all involved, not having any professional or business elements to it, and in very simple and religiously uncluttered environments and approaches.

  We spent these years involved at what was previously known as Bible Temple, and is now City Bible Church. They were good years, though we have now come to entirely new understandings of the nature and function of the Church, and thus are no longer affiliated with City Bible, though we love and respect the brethren there.

  From 2001 to the present we have drawn near to Christ outside the camps of man's religious institutions and businesses with the intent of taking up our cross and coming to know Him better and honor Him more fully.

  BA in Bible , Greek, Hebrew , 1970 — 1981

  With the biblical tools we gained at Multnomah we have now come to entirely new understandings of Church and Church Leadership, and thus we are solidly committed to Church in the home and small settings.
