Hannah Hershey’s Summary
In summer 2007, I had two part-time summer internships, which were two very different but equally valuable experiences. At my internship with IQ Incorporated, a small IT Consulting firm, I had experience building a website, contacting job candidates and requesting information from them over the phone. I was also assigned to a contact position at Respironics (based in Murrysville, PA) in which i collected and analyzed the error reports of a clinical trial. I also worked as an intern with AllCountyJobs.com, LLC. In this internship, I gained valuable insight into the HR world. I also promoted three blogs through white hat SEO tactics and published my own blog posts concerning jobs in CT and NY. I have also published YouTube videos to promote the blogs, worked with link building, and worked to build the membership of three social networks.
This summer (2008), I am continuing my school-year job as a Consultant at one of the Information Technology Services Helpdesks on the PSU campus. The helpdesk has a user base of 150,000. I answer both phone and walk-in questions, which range from software support to e-mail assistance to networking issues. I am also interning once again for AllCountyJobs.com, LLC, returning as a Social Media Intern. My primary focus is generating content for a website that I co-own, www.JobsInSocialMedia.com.I also work to build membership of other social networks (primarily ning networks), blog about new jobs, create and publish videos of podcasts, optimize the search engine rankings of company blogs and websites. Published articles on city job markets on www.BlogforJobs.com. Used Twitter account to drive site traffic. Attended the SHRM 2008 Expo in Chicago to push one of the company's product (targeted at HR professionals).
This summer (2009) I will be interning with PNC Financial Services in downtown Pittsburgh.
