I remember when I first opened QBASIC and had no idea as to what I was doing. Reading a bit more into it, I started by putting flashing text on the screen and evolved to making text role-playing games. During high school, I took a BASIC class where a partner and I developed something similar to The Matrix. Everyone was blown away. At that point, I found what I wanted to do in life.
During college, I found that I had a keen eye for graphics and user interfaces. During my time in college, I joined a team for a project called “Vapor”. It was an online distribution system for gaming. It allowed mod developers to mass distribute updates, maps, plugins, and so on. Within a week’s time, I created a user interface that was distributed to the masses. After a little while, it started picking up and was featured in PC Gamer. Sadly, the project shut down a little time later but seeing something I worked on in a published and established magazine is a highlight of my life.
After college I joined a company called InfoGenius, Inc. At the time, they were working on a new site (www.codango.com) were they hired a small team to populate the site with web apps, components, and links. Two weeks after joining the InfoGenius team, I was promoted to a full-time position with the title of “Website Content Editor”. Over the course of my year and a half there, I wrote in-depth web application reviews, managed a group of writers, and created graphics.
However, after a while, I had to move onto something new. As an automobile enthusiast, I joined OK Auto, 4WD & Tire in June 2008. Since then, I have been managing a group of developers to release our new site as well as manage all the products on our current site. I also work with our marketing team to publish newsletters and periodically help out the sales team.
