The Jakarta Arts Council is the artistic and programming board of the Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), and expected to evaluate and present works by well-known and promising artists, including experimental works from all art forms.

Taufiq el-Hakim was born 1889 in Egypt and was well known for his controversial writings but he was considered as 'guru' by many contemporary Egyptian writers, including Nobel winner Naguib Mahfoudz.
