Heather Alexander’s Summary
My working life started in systems programming, progressing to a considerably more user- and business-oriented view of what information technology is all about. In BT, I gained wide experience in systems procurement, IT strategy and project management, in both the UK and the United States. Now I offer the benefits of that experience to smaller companies and to charities, primarily in Scotland.
When working with my customers, my aim is to help them work out how technology could make their businesses more effective or bigger or easier to manage or... whatever they need to support their business goals.
Most often, I help them to buy or commission IT systems and services that will help them achieve their goals. Even if business owners and managers know roughly what they want, they often need to help to articulate it, and then to find reliable suppliers who could provide it for them. The overall goal is to buy or build systems that don't cost the earth, deliver the business benefit AND about which users enthuse.
