Computer Software Consultant and Contractor
Hawaiian Islands
Yes, I hold many hats and do a little of everything. My mind is constantly going off in all sorts of directions and I follow too many of them, but that just makes life a tad more interesting. To compensate, I watch zero television, write stuff on the bus to Honolulu and back everyday, and sleep four hours a night.
Long ago (circa 1994) I started out in the computer science field, specifically doing interesting things with then nascent but now obsolete VR. I drifted into web development, then teaching computer science (after a long strange roadtrip), then non-fiction writing, then I decided to follow my other creative leanings with photography, art, music, fiction writing, and filmmaking. I am now back to web development again - but Web 2.0 is more interesting than Web 1.0.
My project du jour is a music video I am producing/directing for an old friend who happens to be a really good musician/songwriter and an incredible human being (google Matti D). This is my first somewhat professional collaboration with a musician and a choreographer, so I am excited and deeply scared at the same time.
I also have another book deal in the works that is taking up a lot of my time, so I hope that project is a go too.
My Short-term goals:
- Learn how to surf
- Visit Kuau'i and the Big Island
- Buy a car or find a studio apartment in Honolulu that costs less that $1500/mo
- Find 1000 friends on social networks (because I am writing a book about the phenomenon)
My longterm goals:
- Write/direct feature films for wide-release (independent, but if I could do a big budget biopic of King Kamehameha I would)
- Get the screenplays I have written produced
- Finish at least one novel
My current heros/role models are Michel Gondry and Scott McCloud.

Technically this isn't an honor or award, but I have written a book called "Data and Text Processing for Business Intelligence". Go look it up on Amazon. If you ask real nice, I might even autograph it, ;-)
