HANDIEDAN (Hanneke Treffers, 1981) is an Amsterdam based artist and designer. In 2002 she graduated in photographic design at the Academy of Arts and Design St. Joost in the Netherlands. Although her degree says photography, she has also become well versed in apparel design, illustration, flash animation, website design, as well as creating her own fine art.
HANDIEDAN’s mixed media artworks are a delicate cut and paste mixture wrapped in contemporary antiquity. She meticulously combines classic pin-ups and movie images with paint, ink, yellowed sheet music, old fashioned playing cards, money, stamps, Chinese papers, old wood, rusty metal and doodles as a playful mixture of filigree and a newfangled amalgamation of imagery.
HANDIEDAN’s work has been shown in shows worldwide, including Phone Booth Gallery, Long Beach, CA, Museum of Porn in Art, Zürich, Bright Young Things Gallery, Amsterdam, Gallery 1988, San Francisco, M’atuvu at Josworld, Brussels and joined the Cut&Paste Competition in London in 2008 as one of the 8 final contestants.
Her work also appears in magazines, books and websites such as IDEAFried’s 'The Keywords on Visual Arts in Netherlands', Victionary’s “Musikraphics and ‘Fashion Wonderland’, Photoshop Creative, IDN Magazine, Fefè Magazine, Proteus Magazine, Carpaltunnel Magazine, Wonderland Magazine and Juxtapoz Art & Cultural Magazine.
As a designer, art director and illustrator HANDIEDAN works for different companies and joined projects such as Subtle Disruption, NY, Modfilms, Australia, P.O.V. Interactive, San Francisco, Integrity Fashions, California, Shirtflag, Shanghai, Dushi, Netherlands.
