Matthew D. Hagarty’s Summary

Under the direction of AOL's legal department, Mr. Hagarty is responsible for enterprise-wide electronic discovery strategy and electronically stored information (ESI) preservation, collection and production for civil litigation and regulatory inquiries.

Mr. Hagarty drives substantial cost savings across the IT and Legal Departments by offering a portfolio of services on par with Top Tier e-discovery vendors, which includes the management of an enterprise class e-discovery software suite capable of automated search, collection, and preservation of ESI, and processing capabilities such as post-collection culling, de-duplication and load file creation for attorney review platforms (e.g. Summation, Concordance, XML, Relativity) based on the e-discovery parameters of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).

Mr. Hagarty is a member of The Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1) and recently co-edited The Sedona Conference® Commentary on Preservation, Management and Identification of Sources of Information That Are Not Reasonably Accessible (Published July 2008) and is currently working on the The Sedona Conference® Cooperation Proclamation, which has received more than fifty-five state and federal judicial endorsements. Mr. Hagarty also speaks at educational events (including CLE) and legal conferences across the country.

Mr. Hagarty holds a Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law, Master of Arts degree from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from James Madison University. He is licensed to practice in Washington, D.C.
