World Without Oil was a Corporation for Public Broadcasting sponsored, month-long "serious game" that invited players to imagine life after an oil shock. In my role as Puppetmaster I developed and wrote the character of "Gracesmom" and also helped develop and write the storyline for the game's back story. As a community liaison, I reached out to communities who might have an interest in peak oil and sustainability, and invited them to play and seek out other players within their community. I also contacted players in-game via instant messaging and email to encourage them to continue playing and created many relationships with them in the process.
