Our family (Dee, Jesika, Jennifer & Bryan) moved back to my old homestead (1790s vintage) in 2001. For 5 years work was split 6 months (summer) running the cave business and 6 months for Promega as a technology ambassador. The caves and property have been in my family for over 200 years! My wife and I took over the realms from my parents (Ed & Janet Beckler) who owned/managed the caves from 1970 - 2001. Prior, my aunt Lydia Neubuck managed the caves from the 1940s - 1970. Over the 16 years at Promega, I worked in R&D leading groups developing in vitro transcription/translation product areas. Promega was a fantastic company and I have many fond memories of the employees and the owner, Bill Linton. The key product areas developed as project leader included: Competent Cells, RiboMAX Large Scale RNA Production Systems, Transcend™ Non-Radioactive Translation Detection System and the popular TNT Coupled Reticulocyte Lysate Systems (cell free protein expression). I also was trained/qualified and taught many innovation and team building techniques to our R&D and Sales staff, including: MBTI, KAI and DISC. The last four years included reporting to our North American Sales Director and traveling as a "technology ambassador" with over 100 talks at scientific institutions.
