About Me
I’ve been an Instructional Designer since 1996, well over a decade. Getting my start in IT I quickly became known for my Technical User Guides and Training Manuals. Then I branched out to eLearning becoming an expert in Adult Learning principles, specifically the work of Dr. Ruth Clark and Gagne, and current training standards, ultimately creating various Storyboards and Scripts on technical and soft skills courses. I’ve been on many sides of the writing and training spectrum as a standup Instructor, online Professor, and online Presenter via Webinars.
My philosophy on online learning is focused on the learner. Basically, the learner should be motivated to learn in some way. This not only guarantees interest in the topic, but ensures employee productivity increases after the training. I follow Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs carefully and incorporate that into my projects. The learner must feel that they are getting something out of the training that will meet their personal and professional needs, whether it is career advancement, confidence, a monetary raise, etc.
On the development side, this means:
1. personalizing the training by speaking in a conversational tone,
2. matching the audiences knowledge and technical comfort level,
3. and integrating real-life or job task-related activities and scenarios that they can relate to.
About my Team (currently)
My team of virtual Instructional Designers and e-Learning developers design and develop a range of products, such as User Guides, Storyboards, Course Assessments and Interactions, Software Simulations, Tutorials & Demos.
We cover all industries, fields, topics, and audiences with our wide range of expertise. Most of our corporate topics revolve around employee development, with topics such as Corporate Compliance, Cultural Diversity, Workplace Ethics, Conflict Resolution and other HR and orientation topics.
I believe my Testimonials and Recommendations speak for themselves.
My combination of IT, Project Management and Custom design skills such as Graphics and Technical Writing, gives me the upper-hand over most eLearning companies out there. I can learn ANY software application quickly and easily and then convert it into a user-friendly training product, whether in print or web-based.
