When I got married in March of 1999, I had no idea that you could make invitations. Scrapbooking wasn't very big yet and you just ordered your invitations from a catalog. I ordered something very different - square invitations (a new thing at the time) that were water colored with tulips to go with my tulip theme at the wedding. I made everything else for the wedding - placecards, programs, table numbers. I loved it. I wanted terribly to do something with the wedding industry and thought about wedding coordination. I looked into seminars and online certification, but that wasn't my cup of tea. In the meantime, I did wedding coordinating duties and everything paper for family members, friends, friends of friends and everyone told me “you should do this for a living”.
Finally, in 2002, the timing in my life was right. My husband had been encouraging me for years to do something about my desire. I worked hours on the internet trying to find vendors and a line that fit with my vision of hand making custom designed invitations.
In the summer of 2007, I was so honored that my past, current and future brides voted for me in a local Channel 4 television contest and I won "Best Invitations".
The wedding industry is a tough one. There are so many companies out there and learning how to find clients is very difficult. I owe the success of my business to brides that not only honor me by purchasing my invitations to represent their weddings, but to the brides that then tell other brides about my business.
I'm very fortunate that I love what I do and I do what I love every day.
