The most enjoyable challenges for me are working with world-class software designers, researchers, and business leaders, to build practical, robust, large-scale, systems that utilize advanced ideas in machine learning, information theory, and distributed computing. This has consistently led to product technologies that provide significant competitive advantages for the sponsoring organizations. Over the past sixteen years I have led teams across more than a dozen scientific and engineering projects and groups -- my leadership style is informal and "agile" structured as a partnership. My ultimate goal is to make a significant and ongoing contribution to deep scientific challenges requiring innovations in computing.
Software Development: C++, Ruby, Java, and Python
Scientific Computing: R and S+, Matlab and Octave, Maple, Mathematica, LaTeX and various Wiki flavors
Machine Learning / Data Mining: Reinforcement Learning, Pattern Recognition, Classification, Clustering.
Optimization: Dynamic and Nonlinear Programming, Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines (SVM).
Mathematics: Probability, Stochastic Processes, and Algorithms.
