Glynn is a Principal Lecturer in the Faculty of Sciences and has worked there for the last 18 years. By profession he is a Chartered Chemist, a Chartered Environmentalist, a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager and a Chartered Scientist.
He teaches environmental management and sustainability at Staffordshire University and is also a UK Government Envirowise® Helpline Adviser, assisting small businesses in developing their environmental awareness. During his time at Staffordshire University, he has developed wide experience of distance and on-campus learning and teaching, in-company training, consultancy, applied research and marketing/project/people management. He delivers staff development workshops in e-learning, independent learning and enterprise/entrepreneurship on behalf of the Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences [GEES] Subject Centre within the Higher Education Academy at universities throughout the UK.
Glynn is also a member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management and is a professional reviewer for membership applicants as well as a university award accreditor for them. He is also an evaluator for the European Commission for ICT-based Lifelong Learning project proposals.
Prior to working at the University, Dr. Skerratt had fifteen years scientific and managerial experience in the U.K. water industry – managing laboratories and working in the industrial effluent regulation and wastewater treatment operations sectors.
He has consultancy and training experience in EMS implementation, sustainable business development, solid/liquid waste treatment practice/technology and recycling technologies. He also has extensive experience of the management, preparation and delivery of e-learning and training in the above areas, as well as having developed and delivered many in-company training programmes covering water/wastewater treatment technologies and sustainable business strategies.
