Having built a computer system that required extensive user input as a backup for a hotel chain, Giles was asked to set up and run a centre in Morocco, a country that the company had no previous experience with, and run the user backup from there. Additionally, he was asked to run a number of different services for the Hotel Chain, including the administration, and statistical support for the sales department, and a small call centre.
He ran the recruiting process, oversaw all the departments, selected, negotiated, bought, renovated and equipped a new office when the company outgrew the old one, and dealt with the inevitable fallout when new management at the parent company decided to shut down the centre as it didn't fit in with their corporate goals.
