Through the CVB, I'm helping to create economic growth for the Greater Bangor region by effectively marketing the region as a preferred convention and visitor destination.
As executive director of BangPop!, I am currently using the success of the first annual BangPop! comics & pop culture event this past September to propel new events and ideas into the Bangor area's calendar. We followed with SnowCon 2009, the Central & Northern Maine Gaming Convention, on January 17 & 18 at the Black Bear Inn & Conference Center in Orono. Next is Lebowski Bowl-a-Rama on July 4 & 5, BangPop! 2009 on September 19 & 20, and SnowCon 2010 on January 16 & 17.

It's never too little, too late.
Our local eateries in Downtown Bangor are an endangered species and they need our support. And we need to eat. So let's join together and make a concentrated effort to support them and have a little workday fun in the process.
Get out your wallets and appetites and join the once-a-week Bangor Lunch Mob. Every week, on an pre-announced day, a Facebook blast will go out to the group revealing that day's lunch location. Everyone who's able should visit that day's lunch spot during their lunch time and bring a friend or work buddy if you can.
Haven't been there in a while? Now's the time.
Go there all the time? Try something new.
Had a bad experience there before? We all have bad days.
And, yup, if this takes off it could mean some long lines. So please be patient; we're all hungry.

Get your game on at SnowCon!
SnowCon is central & northern Maine's premier social gaming convention, held annually in January at the Black Bear Inn Conference Center & Suites in Orono, Maine. The SnowCon 2010 event is January 16-17 with special events including fanboy comedian, Sax Carr, who's a gamer, a geek and a funny guy; genre films, including the new Shadowrun short film "Crossing Shadows" by Olivier Bonenfant, who will join us for the weekend; Steampunk Cosplay; extra family activities on Sunday; in addition to a huge selection of scheduled games of all kinds throughout the weekend.
Plus, because every good adventure has a beginning, we added the "So You Meet In a Tavern..." Friday Night Kick-off Party at The Dime in Old Town. A great way to relax with fellow gamers, the evening features a full performance by Sax Carr to get us laughing; DJ Dehuman8 spins the best in industrial and goth; and performances by the Paradigm East bellydance troupe make an evening not to be missed!
