My research activity ranges from disordered systems and percolation, to nanoscopic systems and magnetic materials, to soft matter and biological systems. My recent work has focused on developing an approach to show the necessity of a liquid-liquid critical point for molecular anomalous liquids, such as water and silica. Surprisingly, I showed the possibility of a liquid-liquid phase transition in systems without anomalous density behavior, a result possibly relevant in protein solutions and colloids. Recently, my interests extended to biological networks. I published in various scientific journals, including Nature and Physical Review Letters. My work has been cited in reviews about water, anomalous liquids, and complex systems.
