Experienced Web Developer
Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area
The bulk of my professional experience resides in small-medium scale web development. I have been employed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a year and a half as the webmaster at the Carolina Women's Center. While at the Women's Center I have completed 4 major web site development projects, including the main web site.
In addition to my part-time employment at the Women's Center, I done a small amount of freelance web development and user experience consulting. My clients have included Nicholas Leopold Photography, Semaphore Interactive, and the Chapel Hill Visitors Bureau.
I have also had the opportunity to work as a user experience design intern at Capstrat, Inc., an interactive strategic communications firm in Raleigh, NC. This experience was incredibly valuable to me and introduced me to many professionals in the field of experience design.
I have been trying to attend as many conferences, seminars, workshops, presentations, etc. as possible to get connected with experience professionals and gain practical knowledge that isn't found in academia. I had the opportunity of attending Adaptive Path's User Experience Intensive conference in Minneapolis last June and I intend to attend UX Week 2009. Aside from these (expensive!) ventures, I spend a lot of time reading professional blogs and experiencing online lectures by leading professionals.
