Gianfranco Chicco’s Summary

At HSM we created the World Business Forum, the Annual meeting for the business community which brings together top management gurus like Jack Welch, Bill Clinton, Michael Porter, Kevin Roberts, Alan Greenspan, Philip Kotler, Malcolm Gladwell, Chris Anderson, William Ury and Tom Peters.

My main responsibilities as marketing director are the marketing and communication activities (from strategic planning to budgeting and operations), alliances with media partners and associations, online strategy and partnership agreements and development of new events.

As business manager, I was responsible of launching the WBF in Italy, where it has been a great success and right now we are holding the 5th edition. During 2008 will have speakers such as Jack Welch, Garry Kasparov, Muhammad Yunus and Francis Ford Coppola.

In my free time I collaborate with an interesting new off/online magazine called 7th Floor (www.7thfloor.it) which is Italy's first Free (s)Corporate Press, focusing on new businesses, media and trends. I write articles on digital entrepreneurs.

Summary of my skills:

Development of new projects in several disciplines and countries: from internet to "hard" engineering and event planning.

My success in several fields is mainly based in "understanding" and "communication" of different topics, cultures and business dynamics.

  • Project Manager

Pangea Day Milano / MGM Digital Communication

(Privately Held; 1-10 employees; Non-Profit Organization Management industry)

    April 2008May 2008 (2 months)

Project manager for the event Pangea Day Milano (www.pangeadaymilano.it), part of the "friends of Pangea Day" worldwide program (www.pangeaday.org) and financed by the Province of Milan.

I was responsible for the general management of the event and specializing in communication, promotion, organization and live coverage. I used my project management skills combined with my "2.0" marketing abilities to promote an activity that counted with a very limited budget. We took more that 1.000 people to the theater with less than 1 month of communication and several thousand people through online streaming, social networking and other online resources.

Pangea Day is a global event bringing the world together through film.

Why? In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it's easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that – to help people see themselves in others – through the power of film.
