Nonprofit Fundraising Counselor
San Francisco Bay Area
At the age of six, I had my first taste of fundraising — hosting a Muscular Dystrophy Association Carnival, complete with pin the tail on the donkey and water balloon toss. Years later, I continue to help agencies and their good causes by inspiring the joy of giving as a professional Fundraising Counselor.
Fundraising is one of the most effective tools we have for fostering social change. It provides opportunities for individuals to put their values into action. Because of this, I am blessed to be able to say "I love my job."
I draw on twenty-years of nonprofit management experience and for-profit business ownership. I have worked for agencies with budgets from $250,000 to $8,500,000, in staff positions ranging from Development Manager to Communications Director. As a volunteer Board member, I have helped lead 5 nonprofit agencies, including a multi-million dollar arts funder and a nationally recognized mental health counseling center.
I have started several for-profit businesses, including a national trade association for film and video distributors, community newspaper, events production company and successful restaurant. As a result of my background, I bring strong skills in collaborative management, strategic planning, marketing communications and community relations to my work.
The common thread throughout my career has been a desire to bring people together. Working across race, class, age, gender, sexuality and ability, I work to foster a world that that embraces people for who they are and encourage them to live their dreams. Today I do the work I do, because at its core, fundraising is about building transformative relationships between people, institutions and communities.
Born and raised in Minnesota, I moved to San Francisco a decade ago, looking for a community that reflected these values. Today I assist nonprofits with their fundraising needs to insure that the dream that brought so many of us to the Bay Area is kept alive.
