Gautam Valluri’s Summary

I've graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in 2006 with a Diploma in Fashion Design and moved to New Delhi to work as a clothing designer in the export industry. After several months working at the desk job, I've decided to move my career towards a more independent direction and expand into areas that I am most passionate about.

After months of reading and learning the theory of filmmaking, I got the chance to physically experience the process first hand with independent filmmaker Kaz Rahman (Charminar Films) on a full length feature project that was shot in my hometown of Hyderabad in May-June, 2007. I participated in the project as Assistant Director, Production Manager and Sound Recorder.

In July 2007, I launched BrokenProjector.com, a blog where I write about cinema and the various aspects of it. In August 2007, I had done my first interview for the blog with American Independent filmmaker Andrew Semans. Later that month, I interviewed India's only Academy Award nominated filmmaker Ashvin Kumar and 2007's Silver Bear winning filmmaker Guillaume Martinez.

I shot my debut independent short film 'Windows of the Sunset' in November, 2007. I wrote the script over two weeks and completed the film in a total of 11 days. I also Shot, Edited, Produced and Directed the film.
