Gail Ann Williams
Social networks, community infrastructure and software development, online community strategies, social software feature sets, community evolution and cultivation of purposeful online interactivity.
Currently Director of Communities at Salon Media Group, overseeing Salon's two interactive forum-based online communities: Salon Table Talk (tabletalk.salon.com) and, since 1991, The WELL (www.well.com).
Interested in the nitty-gritty of how social networking works both commercially and in our lives, and how online community tools and practices can work better. Seeking short projects such as conference speaking gigs and one-shot consultations.
Enjoyed presenting on online community management over the years at such diverse gatherings as Computers Freedom and Privacy, South By Southwest, MacWorld, IEEE Community Networking, VirComm, Online Community Summit, and Web2.2
Prior to this career I was involved in both scripted and improvisational theater, comedy and political satire writing, community organizing and grassroots marketing, all of which is strangely relevant to online community.
