Gabriel Patrocinio’s Summary
Former Director (2004/2008) and Vice-Director (2000/2004) of ESDI, the School of Design from the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; during his last term, ESDI was awarded with an IF Gold in 2005, was invited to take part in the Salone Satellite 2006 in Milano, was invited to take part at Microsoft Research Design Expo in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and Yahoo Design Expo 2006, was appointed as the best design school in Brazil through a test applied by the Ministry of Education in 2006 and finally was, in 2007, appointed one of the best design schools in the world by Business Week magazine.
Adviser at the Design Advisory Council from the Secretary of Economical Development of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (since 2007); there he helped organize the Rio+Design 2008, a series of events in the City of Rio during the month of September of 2008; took part on the coordination committee of Brazil Design Week 2008 and organized the Internation Forum to discuss public policies of design with guests from the UK, Korea, Spain and Brazil.
In November, 2008, took part at the foundation of the Brazilian Design Forum (www.forumbrasildesign.org.br), which congregates design professional and academic associations and promotion centers from all over Brazil. In March, 2009, launched the Manifest for a Brazilian Design stating the strategic goals of the Forum.
Design Expert in Intellectual & Industrial Property issues, producing technical advice reports and doing consultation either for courts, patent offices or companies (since 1998)
