Franz Schnaas’s Summary

Experience in the creative field that spans design disciplines has allowed me to transcend specialization. As creative lead I have developed a diverse, generalist's point of view in problem solving. Practical and critical investment in photography and contemporary art-making add a keen empathetic perspective to my conceptual process.

I have lead teams in interactive, graphic, and industrial design, and have art direction experience in advertising, having also developed methodologies and constructed innovative brand strategies –and re-positionings, for both emerging and aging brands.
In the past, clients have included The Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, MOMA Online Store, OUTFEST, NIKON USA, Method Home, SLING Media, TYLENOL, and Sacks Fifth Avenue among others. I have successfully devised visionary design solutions that push the envelope within the framework of studied appropriateness. My work has been awarded and exhibited by AIGA, Print Magazine, HOW, EXPERIMENTA (Spain), MOCOLOCO, Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times.

In all collaborations I bring to the team a unique insight with specific knowledge stemming from the Art environment in general as well as the culture at large. The generalist's approach is advantageous in reasoning innovative approaches to standard structures of information, communication collateral systems, events campaigns, and product development.
