October 2001 – December 2004 (3 years 3 months) São Paulo Area, Brazil
EDS Brazil administers around 1500+ Unix Servers (including main customers), running Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Linux. My basic responsibilities were to maintain secure all the Unix Servers, writing Shell Scripts to ease the maintenance of security and auditing.
I was responsible for deployment of baseline security procedures and maintaining them up-to-date as well as the implementation of security hardening of all UNIX servers.
One of the main projects was the validation and implementation of the product CA e-Trust Access Control in all Unix servers from GM and several customers as a requirement for new servers go to production.
Unix Systems Administrator
Zip.Net
May 2000 – May 2001 (1 year 1 month) São Paulo Area, Brazil
Zip.Net had around 220 Unix Servers, running Solaris and Linux, and around 200 Windows Servers, running Windows NT and 2000.
My basic responsibilities were to maintain all the Unix Servers, writing Shell Scripts to ease the maintenance, monitoring servers using Shell Scripts and “What’s Up?” programs. Most of the servers were Web Servers and Mail Servers (Critical Path’s NPlex), however there were some Solaris Servers running Oracle as well.
Another responsibility was to maintain the Radius system, used to authenticate the dial-up users. I had to administer the Storage Devices (Sun A1000, Sun D1000 and NetApp), as well, monitoring the storage capacity and managing volumes and disks. At Zip.Net, I had the chance to administer the Firewall (CheckPoint), and some switches.
In February 2000, Zip.net was sold to Portugal Telecom for US$ 365 millions and in 2001 merged with Universo Online (UOL).

Responsible for security assessments, providing technical and executive reports.
My main implementation project at ISPM, executed at Unilever Brazil, where the Latin America Domain Name Service (DNS) was centralized in Brazil. This project involved installation of the software BIND in UNIX and Windows DNS servers of each site of Unilever Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile) as well as configuration of the zones and security features for hardening the DNS service.
