My career thus far has covered two strands: computing and security. My goal is to merge these two strands into one, through my current studies in computer forensic investigation.
Of the computing strand, I have experience in network design and implementation (Microsoft Certified Professional for Windows NT4 Server), and experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, RNIS, and software deployment.
Of the security strand, I have experience with security monitoring, alarm control, site security, and offender monitoring.
Electronic monitoring of offenders on community-based sentences.

Responsible for the monitoring center side of the connections and disconnections of offenders sentenced to Home Detention throughout New Zealand. Interfacing with Department of Corrections Probation Officers, interfacing with security guards on site at offender premises, and interfacing with stock logistics, ensuring that electronic offender monitoring equipment is recovered post-disconnection.

Despite having several regular business and residential customers, I had to close the business in 2005 due to managerial / administrative issues.

Responsible for re-negotiating and securing maintenance contracts for the technicians, and booking service jobs. Established a contract management database on Microsoft Exchange Server using custom forms and custom views. Migrated contacts from Atlas ERP to Exchange.

Installed and configured a Windows 2000 Server and backup server as Active Directory authentication servers, on RAID 5 SCSI drives. Installed InterBase v6 and the Artena Student Management System, along with ReportSmith and other associated database tools. Installed and configured Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server and clients. Configured Windows Terminal Services so that the Student Management system could be accessed via ISDN connection from satellite offices throughout New Zealand. Installed and configured a Tandberg tape backup system with BackupExec software.

I also learned about computer hardware servicing and OEM system building here. I learned about computer networking, including 10base-2 and 10base-T Ethernet topologies, and had access to 3DFX virtual reality hardware.
