Freek van Krevel’s Summary

In his current function Freek van Krevel is the coordinator of the i2010 eGovernment Action Plan.

In his function he works with colleagues who are highly experienced experts in the priority areas of the Action Plan. His added value consists of combining content with the broader policy picture, thinking strategically ahead, linking people and working on generic eGovernment matters. He also liaises with colleagues dealing with eGovernment from other organisations (OECD, Member States and other DGs with the EC). Practically, this function contains the following:

- being the Project Officer for a study about the progress of eGovernment in Europe.
- secretariat of the i2010 eGovernment Subgroup. The group in which Member States exchange views about eGovernment and keep track of the actions in the Action Plan.
- coordinating troika activities for the succeeding Presidencies, in particular liaising with the Swedish Presidency which should result in a Ministerial eGovernent Conference in 2009.
- writing briefings and speeches for his superiors, and articles for magazines, giving presentations on the Action Plan for various audiences.

Moreover, he truly feels to make the best of actions and common values at EU level, which sometimes requires creative solutions to get people engaged and a vision being launched.
