Senior Project Manager/Principal and Sustainable Design specialist at a leading architectural firm in the retail design field, working on large, complex commercial development projects for national clients around the country. Consistently met demanding schedules and often exceeded project profit goals.
Began on a contract consulting basis in Fall 1991; became full-time staff member in February, 2003. Rose through the ranks becoming an Associate, Sr. Associate and finally Principal and shareholder.
Recently completed 3½-year long, $100-million-plus expansion/renovation of nation’s first fully enclosed retail mall on east coast while in full operation - an example of enlightened adaptive re-use versus bulldozing or abandonment. Successfully obtained LEED Silver Certification for new JPRA Office Building in 2008. In 1996, directed adaptive re-use of 1920’s downtown movie palace into new Detroit Opera House. Other major projects include Eastwood, The Gardens Expansion, Metropolis, The Mall at Robinson, and FountainWalk. A detailed project list with descriptions and photos is available on request.
Acted as point of contact with clients and technical consultants; in-house team leader and supervisor; mentor and advisor for staff. Oversaw/prepared design development, and construction documents, specifications. Administered construction phase and coordinated with contractors, building and planning officials, department stores, and leasing agents. Drafted, negotiated and administrated contracts for services. Active in program to begin integrating Sustainable Design into firm's practice, and in management and administration of the firm as a Principal.

Managed staff of 40 interior designers and architects working on corporate and professional office interiors for major developers, at one of area’s most well-known such firms at that time. Work supervised included programming, space planning, interior finishes and architectural detailing, furnishings selection and specification, construction documents and site observation. Organized and rationalized growing staff and brought continuity, consistency and efficiency to project management procedures .
